For the first time in Italy, the exhibition Testimoni del nostro tempo gather the pictures by all the Italian photographers who have been awarded by the World Press Photo Foundation.

In more than half a century from its foundation, from 1955 to 2010, 48 Italian photographers have been awarded in the contest, with a total of 74 different prizes among which two World Press Photo of the Year won respectively by Francesco Zizola in 1996 and Pietro Masturzo in 2010.

From an idea of 10b photography, the exhibition has been curated by Daniele Protti, director of the monthly magazine L’Europeo.

Entirely dedicated to the exhibition, the special March issue of L’Europeo opened with an introductory text written by Ferdinando Scianna.

Protti writes: "Being the curator of this exhibition and publishing an equivalent issue of L’Europeo is not an unusual practice; in fact this is part of the historical and editorial identity of the magazine. "Articles can be looked at, pictures can be read", Arrigo Benedetti used to teach. A paradox more apparent than real. As a matter of fact a statement that neither TV nor the web can touch: the high quality photographic image is not a piece of furniture, but an integral part of communication [...] Therefore I am happy to co-operate at the realization of the exhibition and to dedicate 62nd issue of the new L’Europeo’s editorial to so many important names of Italian photography."

Testimoni del nostro tempo is a project by 10b photography in co-operation with L’Europeo and with the co-production of ArtèFoto Festival.
